Indigenous Environmental Services (IES) is an Indigenous owned company established to work towards overcoming disadvantage and reducing dependence of Indigenous communities on government assistance through creation of jobs, income and sustainable change in the new green economy.
IES aims to assist in minimising the risk arising from the impacts of a changing climate and to ensure that regional, rural and remote Indigenous populations in particular are ready to face these impacts.
IES forsees that the green economy, and consequent changes to regulations, legislation and especially technologies, will present opportunities for jobs, small business enterprises and community-wide projects. IES intends to maximise such opportunities especially through the creation of carbon instruments such as carbon permits, carbon credits and carbon offsets.
